The AAYC's 2007-2008 season

"Fantastic","Such a polished, beautiful group!" and "The best concert ever." - recent comments from our audience.

November 8-11 (Thursday-Sunday), 2007: Nine members of the AAYC's Concert Choir had a terrific experience as members of the cast for the University of Michigan's Opera Program production of Puccini's much-loved opera La Boheme, conducted by Professor Martin Katz , at the Power Center. Our students were expertly prepared and performed beautifully! Professor Katz wrote, " I can't say enough good things about the Ann Arbor Youth Chorale; they are the real deal!"

December 9 (Sunday), 2007: AAYC presented its Winter Concert to a packed audience at Bethlehem United Church of Christ. On a chilly afternoon, this beautifully sung program warmed our audience's hearts.

April 22 (Thursday), 2008: Descant Choir visited Glacier Hills Retirement Community for of short program.

April 27 (Sunday), 2008 at 4 p.m.: The AAYC's Concert Choir and the Ann Arbor School for the Performing Arts' Youth Orchestra presented a joint concert at Bethlehem United Church of Christ (please find convenient parking at the William Street structure). The two groups performed separately and together in a program of choral and instrumental music.

May 4 (Sunday), 2008 at 2 p.m.: The AAYC's Concert Choir sang at the Mott Memorial Service in the Towsley Center at the University of Michigan Hospital. This private service is in memory of children who have died at Mott Children's Hospital or while under their care.

May 10 (Saturday), 2008 at 4 p.m.: The AAYC presented Remember me Singing - Celebrating 20 Years - its second Children's Choral Festival in Pease auditorium on the campus of Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti (find easy parking adjacent to the auditorium). The AAYC invited three choirs to join Concert and Descant Choirs for a celebratory concert. They were: The Columbus Indiana Children's Choir*, the Grand Rapids Junior Youth Chorus, and the Dearborn Middle Schools Honor Choir. 187 kids sang for an enthusiastic audience and in massed voices performed the premier of Washington D.C. composer, Dr. Andrew Simpson work May Flowers. Thanks to our guest choirs for their marvellous contribution; we so enjoyed having them grace our concert! Afterwards, a bowling party was enjoyed by performers and their parents.

A great end to a terrific season!
