Brent Ivey brings a diverse background to his work as Administrator for the Ann Arbor Youth Chorale. His interest in the pipe organ began at an early age when he would, unbeknownst to his mother, skip Sunday School to sneak into the Sanctuary at his home church in Amarillo, TX, to listen to the organist – an inspiring woman who would later become his college organ professor. Also harboring a love of numbers and systems, Brent added studies in accounting and business administration along with his organ performance and choral conducting degrees.
Following the opportunity to serve churches in the Amarillo and Houston areas as organist/choirmaster, Brent has spent the majority of his career serving as the CFO and Director of Human Resources of various non-profits, including two independent schools in Atlanta. Brent currently serves as the financial analyst for the Quality Department at Michigan Medicine.
Brent’s husband, David VanderMeer, serves as the Minister of Music and Fine Arts at First Presbyterian of Ann Arbor. Brent finds great joy in “setting the table” in support of the mission of the organizations that he serves and is especially inspired by the intersection of people, fine arts, and data. Brent is exceptionally honored to serve AAYC in its mission of transforming young lives through music.
