Mary Grace Ellerbee
Concert Choir Accompanist
Mary Grace Ellerbee is a prize-winning collaborator and performer from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She holds a Bachelor of Music degree in piano performance from Louisiana State University, where she studied with Gregory Sioles, Ana Maria Otamendi, and Willis Delony. Mary Grace has been active in her community for a decade as a choir accompanist, freelancer, and pit musician for many shows at her local community theatre and second home, Theatre Baton Rouge. Prior to COVID-19, she was contracted as a summer collaborative pianist for the Theatre department at Interlochen Center for the Arts.
In 2019, Mary Grace gave performances spanning two continents. Notably, she gave her European debut as both a collaborator and soloist in recital in Vienna, Austria. In the States, she performed with tubist Evan Zegiel at New World Center in Miami Beach, Florida for his Solo Spotlight recital with the New World Symphony, and she has given many solo performances in her hometown of Baton Rouge. Recent engagements as a collaborative pianist include virtual recitals with 5pm Series entitled, "Dinner Theatre: A Quarantine Cabaret," and a January 2021 recital benefitting Hurricane Laura relief for Lake Charles, Louisiana.
As a pedagogue, Mary Grace is a private teacher, adjudicator, and researcher. She currently is a teacher for Through The Staff, an online platform that provides free virtual music lessons to young musicians across the country who could otherwise not afford or have access to them. In 2019, under the guidance of Dr. Pamela Pike, Mary Grace presented group research at the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) national conference and individual research at the Louisiana MTNA conference.
Mary Grace loves traveling, photography, bubble tea, and hiking with her partner, Evan.
