Auditions for the 2023-2024 Season
We are delighted that you are interested in joining the Ann Arbor Youth Chorale Family! No experience is required, but a love of singing and enthusiasm for music is essential. The audition process is completed in a relaxed and friendly manner, giving each chorister time to sing for the director. AAYC members must be nine years old by September 1, 2023, or a rising 4th grader. Click here to learn more about our ensembles.
-
Descant Choir: During your time to meet with the director, singers will be asked to do some pitch matching, demonstrate their vocal range, and answer a few questions.
-
Concert Choir: Each singer will be asked to sing back patterns of notes that are sung or played for them, sing scales a cappella (unaccompanied), do some very basic music sight-reading, sing a simple canon (round) with the director, and answer a few questions.
All of this is accomplished in about 10-15 minutes. Parents/Guardians are invited to join the meeting for the last few minutes, following the singing portion, to meet the director and ask any questions they may have.
Auditions will be held in person at First Baptist Church of Ann Arbor. Masking is currently optional, but follows prevailing county and church policy.
Auditions are by appointment.
