Sarah Kim

Collaborative Pianist

Born into a musical family in Korea, Sarah Kim, a pianist and collaborative artist, began playing the
piano at the age of 5 and accompanying her parents who were both singers at 10. After moving to
the United States of America in 1990, she has won numerous awards and performed in many various
venues including her appearance as a soloist with Pasadena Summer Youth Orchestra playing
Tchaikovsky Piano Concerto No. 1 in 1992 and Beethoven Piano Concerto No. 5 in 1993.

As a collaborative artist, she has collaborated with numerous soloists and ensembles of all ages and
sizes in both private and group settings featuring a wide range of vocal and instrumental repertoire.
While she was still a college student at Mount Stint Mary’s University, she worked as a staff
accompanist for Mount Saint Mary’s Choir and Mount Saint Mary’s Small Vocal Ensemble Group as
well as lessons, rehearsals, and recitals of all voice major singers.

Praised for her outstanding sight-reading skills as well as her innate musical ability to make music
with others, she completed her collaborative artist training at Manhattan School of Music under the
tutelage of Dr. Heasook Rhee. In 1999, she was awarded the Collaborative Artist Fellowship to work
as Junior Opera Vocal Coach from the Aspen Music School and Festival, where she worked closely
with Dr. Rita Sloan as well as many other faculties from renowned music schools across the U.S.
Since moving to Michigan in 2009, she has performed regularly for Catherine Rollin’s piano concerto
students in addition to many collegiate and young talented musicians building a wide range of vocal
and instrumental repertoire. Her recent performances include Hayden and Seek Recital series with
the cellist, Thor Sigurdson. Also in 2023, she has been appointed as a collaborative artist for Ann
Arbor Youth Chorale’s Concert Choir.

She holds Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance from Mount Saint Mary’s University and
two Masters of Music degree in Piano Performance and Instrumental Accompanying. Her former
teachers include Haksoon Swiatkowski, Antoinette Perry, world-renowned John Perry, Arkady Aronov,
Sarah Davis Buechner, Rita Sloan, and Heasook Rhee.
